Transport plays an essential role in connecting us to each other and to the services we need.

Regional Land Transport at Greater Wellington helps shape our region’s transport system to enable everyone to get to where they need to go, quickly and safely.

Our work goes beyond influencing how people and goods move from A to B – we use the lens of wellbeing to show how transport improves liveability, strengthens communities, and supports good health for everyone. We create a system to endure and outlast us, grounded in partnership, evidence, and planning for future resilience.

What we do:

  1. Transport policy and planning
  2. Wellington Transport Analytics Unit
  3. Travel behaviour change

Transport policy and planning

We provide strategic advice, policies and plans that advocate for the region’s transport priorities, balancing national and local needs.

Wellington Transport Analytics Unit

Wellington Transport Analytics Unit provides transport data modelling and insights. We provide the evidence base for Greater Wellington and its partner councils and agencies to make transport decisions that offer people reliable, safe and sustainable travel options.

Travel behaviour change

We promote viable, low-carbon transport options and support people to reconsider how they travel. We broaden perceptions beyond cycling advocacy to empower people to choose what works best for them and the environment.
