Local government elections will next be held in October 2022. 

At Greater Wellington Regional Council, we deal with the issues that impact people’s lives every day. We work across many areas, but it all boils down to the same purpose: taking care of the things that really matter.

Our focus for is on continuing to develop our region as a resilient, beautiful, opportunity-rich place to live and do business. To achieve this, we have programmes planned for public transport, flood protection, environmental enhancement, and water supply; all vital areas for economic development and quality of life. 

Who can stand as a candidate? 

To be eligible to stand as a candidate you must be:

• Enrolled as a parliamentary elector anywhere in New Zealand
• A New Zealand citizen
• Nominated by two electors whose names appear on the electoral roll for the constituency for which you wish to stand
