New guide on freshwater pest plants

Do you know your aquatic plants? Whether they’re native or affecting the health of the water and habitat you can see them in? 

A guide to freshwater pest plants of the Wellington region is available to pick up (free from our local GWRC or DOC offices) or to download ( PDF, 8927KB (PDF 8.7 MB) ). The guide includes information about aquatic plants that are known to cause problems and may be found around Wairarapa Moana. Notes and photos are provided on key features and identifying the plants, why they are a threat and options to control them. There is also a section on some species not yet been recorded in the region but should be reported if seen.
