Registrations are extremely limited for this guided walk. If you have attended this event in the past, please give others a chance to visit this special area of Wainuiomata.
You’ll be guided through 1,000-year-old forest in an area usually closed to the public. Walk among towering native rātā and rimu trees. This forest is home to North Island brown kiwi and other special native birds.
Our experienced park ranger will be your guide, sharing fascinating stories about the park's natural heritage and history.
This is one of our most popular summer events. Each guided walk is limited to just 20 participants. A limit of two registrations per person applies.

This walk requires a moderate fitness level and is not suitable for children under 14.

Please bring your lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.

You’ll be walking for about 10 km, including river crossings. Dress appropriately.
