Local legislation and bylaws

The Council’s rights, obligations and responsibilities are described in legislation, regulations and bylaws. Greater Wellington Regional Council exercises powers and fulfils responsibilities granted to it by:

• Local government legislation (Acts of Parliament which applies to all of local government)
• Local legislation (Acts or Parliament which applies only to Greater Wellington Regional Council), and
• Local bylaws (made by Greater Wellington Regional Council)
