Provides a strategic and statutory framework for the
management of selected pest plants and animals in the
Wellington region. Aims to minimise the actual and potential
adverse and unintended effects of pests on the environment,
economy, biodiversity and the community. Minimises the
effectiveness of individual pest management through a regionally
co-ordinated response. Sets out the plan on three parts.
Part one includes : effects of the strategy's implementation;
and strategy responsibilities and obligations.
Part two covers: the pest management programmes including
the rationale; the regional surveillance in the categories of pest
plants and animals as well as total control, containment, and
suppression. Includes site-led category management
programmes of boundary control and those which affect
human health, biodiversity, and key native ecosystems.
Part Three covers : powers conferred; implementation; regulatory
management; cross-boundary issues and integrated management,
funding provisions and definition of terms.
