Trail Bike Riding - Akatarawa Forest

Search in document library

The Wellington Regional Council manages some 16,000 hectares of
forest lands situated between Upper Hutt and Paekakariki-Paraparaumu.
Collectively the forests are known as the Akatarawa Forest Block.

Today there is an extensive network of roads and old logging tracks
through the regenerating bush and pine trees. The main four wheel drive
roads through the forests are open to the public for recreation purposes.
There is a trail bike zone through the forest. Trail bikes are not allowed
elsewhere. This brochure outlines trail bike routes and how to get there.
