Instream Flow Assessment for the Otukura Stream Stage 2: Instream Flow Requirements
Search in document library
In this report the instream flow requirements of the Otukura
Stream are assessed with the objective of improving
ecological values. The model WAIORA is used to investigate
the relationship between stream flow and water temperature/
dissolved oxygen. It was found that high water temperatures
may occur but are unlikely to be avoided through flow
management alone. dissolved oxygen is a potentially critical
factor for the Otukura Stream during times of low flow. The
report recommends a minimum flow of 95 L/s to avoid low
dissolved oxygen concentrations, and this should be
considered for the Regional Freshwater Plan.
