In 1994 a report entitled Summary of Drought Strategy for the Wellington
Metropolitan Water Supply Area was presented to the Metropolitan Water
Supply Steering Group. The report, included as Appendix 1, provided an
interim drought strategy and identified further work needed to refine the
strategy.

This report focuses on the hydrological inputs to the drought strategy and
presents recommendations on how to best monitor and manage the bulk
water supply system during a drought.
