As part of a strategy that aims at achieving an acceptable level of risk from
seismic and geological hazards in the region, the Regional Council has
undertaken an assessment of the seismic hazards in the region, and the
vulnerability of the community to the hazard.

Works Consultancy Services Ltd has been commissioned by WRC to
undertake a ground shaking hazard assessment for the Wellington
Region.

For the purpose of this study, the region has been divided into five study
areas:
Study area 1 Wellington
Study area 2 Kapiti
Study area 3 Wairarapa
Study area 4 Upper Hutt
Study area 5 Lower Hutt & Porirua
