Regional Plan for Discharge to Land - regional rules

The Regional Plan for Discharges to Land contains 22 rules about discharges of contaminants to land. Some minor changes to some of the rules were made operative on 1 September 2003.
The rules are grouped as follows:
Rules about activities not covered by other rules
- Rule 1 discharges not entering water in a river, lake, wetland, farm drain water supply race or aquifer
- Rule 2 discharges into or onto land not otherwise provided for by a rule in the Plan
Rules about stormwater, greywater and sewage
- Rule 3 stormwater and reticulation systems
- Rule 4 greywater
- Rule 5 pit latrines
- Rule 6 aerobically treated sewage discharged on-site
- Rule 7 all sewage discharged on-site
- Rule 8 all other discharges of sewages to land
Rules about landfills, rubbish dumps and tips
- Rule 9 domestic and farm waste disposal and composting
- Rule 10 other refuse disposal including at landfills, rubbish dumps and tips
Rules about agricultural contaminants
Rules about hazardous substances
- Rule 15 specified hazardous substances
- Rule 16 land based applications of pesticides as solids or pastes (including 1080)
- Rule 17 aerial applications of pesticides as solids or pastes (including 1080)
- Rule 18 discharges associated with roading and other sealed areas
- Rule 19 water treatment plant waste
- Rule 20 waste oil
- Rule 21 on-site discharges from contaminated sites
- Rule 22 removal of material from contaminated sites
