Peaceful tree-lined glades

Kaitoke is well known for its beautiful picnic areas, on the river terraces and near the bush edges at the Pakuratahi entrance.

Portable gas barbecues may only be used in the picnic and camping areas. Drinking water and electric barbecues are available in the campground shelters. The barbecues are free to operate - just push the button to get them started.

Groups of 25 or more may book the large barbecue shelter only on weekdays and for a flat fee of $40.

The barbeque shelter is not available for bookings on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve or New Years Day, Wellington Anniversary and Waitangi Day. On these days all barbeque shelters are available on a first come first served basis.

To book a BBQ please contact the Park Ranger.

Open fires are permitted on the riverbed only and you must have the Park Rangers permission. Please bring your own firewood.
