Managing pollution

Updated 28 August 2019 9:57am

How we manage pollution

As Greater Wellington’s Environmental Protection Team we manage pollution through responding to environmental incidents reported on the 24-hour environment hotline. This includes site inspections, investigations and providing education and advice.

Enforcement

We are responsible for regulating, monitoring and recording complaints and breaches of the Resource Management Act, regional plans and resource consents. Where a breach of the Act, a resource consent or rule is confirmed, we can take action against the offenders.

Contaminated land

Sites where land has or could have been contaminated are recorded on our Selected Land Use Register (SLUR).
