Home heating and insulation assistance

We are currently reviewing the scheme’s structure and are not taking any new applications at this time.
We will update this page when we have more details.
Home insulation keeps our homes warm and dry and replacing old wood-burners reduces air pollution and keeps us safe.
We offer region-wide financial assistance (interest bearing) for insulation for those houses built prior to the year 2005. In the Wainuiomata / Masterton districts only where air pollution is a problem, we also offer financial assistance (interest bearing) for clean heating.
For properties built before the year 2005 we offer ratepayers in the region a maximum of $3,900 in financial assistance for home insulation. It can be repaid through a targeted rate on your regular rates bill over nine years.

Masterton and Wainuiomata residents are also eligible for assistance to help replace old wood burners and open fires with clean heating appliances such as heat pumps, and approved fire boxes.
You could apply for up to $5,000 to install clean heating in your home.
