Camping

Stretch out your enjoyment of the Remutaka Rail Trail by camping overnight at either Ladle Bend or the Summit. (You can also camp at Cross Creek, but this lies outside the regional park in DOC land.)

Camping is free and you are welcome to bring in your portable gas stove, but there are no fires in the park.

The camping area at Ladle Bend lies below the Rail Trail near the Pakuratahi River, just follow the signs. Be careful not to camp under the pine trees to the left of the Rail Trail (just before the bridge) as these trees were severely damaged in the 2004 storms.

• No rubbish bins – so take your rubbish home with you and recycle where possible
