Camping

"If you want a bit more of a camping adventure but you are not quite ready for the full bush experience this is the place. A stream runs through it for the kids to paddle in, there is a flat grassy area to pitch your tent, and proper toilet facilities (not long drop!)"  Tripadvisor

Battle Hill offers a unique camping experience. Get off the grid, get into nature, roast marshmallows over the campfire and look up at the stars.

Sounds enticing, doesn’t it? Every year lots of people think so and the limited sites fill up quickly, so prior booking is essential.

Contact the park ranger to register, check availability and book your site.

Camping fees (per night)

Adults $8 per adult
Children $4 per child - 5  to 16 year olds (adult rates apply for unsupervised 14-16 year olds; under 5 year olds are free).

You need to register and pay your fees before setting up your campsite. Cash, cheques are accepted.

Facilities:

  • Wheelchair-accessible flush toilets
  • Drinking (potable) water close at hand

BBQs and Campfires

You can bring your portable gas barbeques to the park and if you fancy a campfire, we have firepads for just that purpose.  A crackling fire and roasted marshmallows? Doesn’t get much better than that!

If conditions get too dry, the firepads are subject to fire bans. Ask the park ranger if in doubt.

Large groups (over 25) can reserve a site for a campfire for a small fee. Contact the park ranger to book your site and discuss your event.

Campervans

There are no powered sites at Battle Hill, but campervans are welcome.

There is no dump station at Battle Hill Farm Forest Park. The nearest is at Paekakariki Holiday Park, Wellington Rd, Paekakariki (near the entrance to Queen Elizabeth Park).
