Wainuiomata Valley tracks

The Lees Grove and Fern Gully (via Gardiner Grove) tracks wind up through mature beech forest. Both tracks join Rata Ridge and ascend to the highest point in the park at Lowry Trig (373m). A few minutes further is the Mount Lowry lookout. From here you can follow the Main Ridge Track and drop down to one of the eastern bays in Wellington Harbour.

Both Zigzag (via Fraser St) and Rata Ridge (via Stanley Street) tracks wind up through regenerating bush and offer views over the Wainuiomata Valley. Extensive gorse cover is forming a nurse crop for native vegetation with manuka trees beginning to replace the gorse. The Rata Ridge Track eventually enters mature beech forest before climbing to Lowry Trig.
